Boardworks Epoxy Surfboards specializes in a process known as Epoxy Thermal Lamination. They build a two piece mold around an original master from the shaper. Next, they take an EPS (expanded poly styrene) core and insert 3, 8mm PVC stringers. They call this the ESS (epoxy stringer system). This makes the boards much stiffer than a regular epoxy board and greatly enhances breaking strength. They then add layers of glass, 9 lb PVC sheet foam on top and bottom, and more glass with super-toughened (20 lb) epoxy foaming resin on the rails for impact resistance. The board is hand laid up in the heated mold and then placed in a press. This allows the board to cure under pressure at a high temperature. As a result, they end up with a tight, light, and extremely durable finished product which is the best available in today's epoxy surfboard market. Casey McCrystal, shaper for dozens of top professionals, immortalizes his best shortboards in epoxy.
This board was shaped for all-around conditions. Fast with plenty of glide, easy to ride and extremely forgiving. This board can be ridden slightly smaller than a regular polyester due to the type of construction.
